Hi all,

I was wondering, maybe just because someone mentioned it to me, they told me that my female

Dana Von Ryans was a rare color for having East German bloodlines, now that I think about it,
I haven't noticed other Easties with such a deep red to them, are there others?
She's the only red dog I have

Those are 2 Very Regal Looking GSDs
Beautiful

I personally like dogs with deep pigment and bone structure. (And everyone loves red heads!)

Today we find red pigment  in the Grafental lines. Your female has some old ddr lines so this pigment is to be expected
In viewing Dana Von Ryans pedigree this is not a full ddr dog. There is a good amount of west lines in there.

She kind of looks unusual when looking at the parents. Even tho she has a lot of DDR in her pedigree, there is also west german show line as well as some american bred line. DDRs tend to be more reddish than west german working and czech, which tend to be more greyish.

It is rare to impossible to find a full DDR with a black saddle/ small blanket as defined as your dog looks. If someone would offer such dog to me, I sure would have it and parents+ DNA tested. BTW Dana looks beautiful

Thanks everyone,
I love seeing the picture pedigrees of all the dogs on here, this is a great resource to have.

Dana had her first litter, and it has alot of Grafental dogs in it, I really liked the stud and his mom Resi,
of course breeding Dana with Resi wouldn't work, I used to say to her owner..if only she was a boy, but

her son Onyx is a very stable well behaved boy, he is well trained and probably can already get his obedience title,
but his owner wants to make sure he scores high on the obedience test, I myself am happy with sqeaking by......

Here is the link to Dana's pups

Her pups are beautiful! They all have such a deep red color like thier mom. Some even look to have a rottweiler rust color. Beautiful Pups!

Thanks KellJ,

Also,Thanks Elkoorr,

I had a dog that actually had quite the saddleback, and her dad was right from East Germany, I was amazed at

how she had turned out, from not seeing her since she was a pup, the lady that got her stopped by & showed

her off to me, she was the runt of the litter and she turned out to be bigger than her brother Theo Von Ryan, there

were 12 in that litter, unfortunately, not too long after that picture was taken, she was struck & killed by a car, the lady

was devastated, she was taking care of her elderly parents at their house so it was unfamiliar territory for the dog.

I had another litter with the same sire, so now that lady is loving her new little one, her pup is

16 months old now.

Here is her first pup she got,                                                 Then below, all grown up
below as a pup

Didn't look like the same pup when she came back & visited, she was a big girl too, for being so small when

when she was a pup, I was worried she would stay small..........

The reddest dog I have ever seen is a full DDR female owned by Kim at Just K9's.  I have seen Tika (Just Atika vom Kistha Haus) in person several times and it is almost shocking how deep red her color is, more red than a Rottie that was there at the Schutzhund field.

Unfortunately, Kim really needs to post a new picture on the database.  The ones that are there now are washed out color wise (the grass looks pale gray).  She is also quite the go getter on the field.
