Another discipline which I've had to teach Xena, in order for us to compete in UK Service/Working Dog trials is the weave poles.
It was hard work at first, as she was so manic, she wouldn't go through them in the right order, missing one, two or more out. Then she'd start to go through them, but if I held back, she'd heel to me instead of completing the course of poles.
We've just about got there now.
It's a bizarre agility exercise, but there are valuable points to be had for getting it right. Besides, it's a fairly low impact agility exercise and she likes doing it - so it all helps the training bond in the long run, I suppose.

That's great to see. The backstory about the learning process is interesting too. Thanks.

I enjoy your videos. You have a nice dog and you are obviously a good trainer. You guys make a nice team. Keep it up and keep the videos rolling.

nice job! the weave poles are a tough one to teach and can take a long time to get right..... I had one dog that completely hated them as he'd much rather be out doing the jumps and contact obstacles. So he was a challenge! But, she definitely seems to enjoy them for sure!

Indeed :-) Weaves are the hardest obstacle to teach and maintain, as dogs don't naturally do this. Jumping, balancing, and running are all normal for them. But weaves? Eesh!
Good job :D
