How many people out there  actually worm their dogs? Judging from the all these replies, either not many or not want to discuss it.

I worm at 3, 5, 12 weeks as a puppy and then monthly till six months.  I then generally only worm every six months unless otherwise required, ie. appearance or in whelp.

I worm my adult dogs once a year.  I used to worm twice a year... I used to worm my puppies at 2.5, 3.5 & 7 weeks... I know better now.

Drontal nearly killed my old boy... they refunded my Vet fees, no questions asked for other than my bank details... THAT tells a story!

I use Panacur    ...1cc per 10lbs.   every 4 weeks as pups...It is bought here in Texas by safeguard   called   Goat wormer at our feed stores, Tractor Supply, and .  it is the same thing as the paste used for cattle, horses and dogs...but the Liquid goat wormer is used for dogs... If have a know problem , you treat the pup for 5 days or 3 days in a row.., according to what the problem is...Also used for giardia/not cocci.

Of course , Ive been doing this for 24 years., so I know what workes..I use Pyrantel Pamoate on my 2 , 3 , 4, 5, 6, weeks old pups and then panacur after that.

I use Albon for preventative for cocci and if I have a tapeworm problem I use Safeguard  Taperwormer and Panacur also.

Ivemec is used after 5 months old for Heartworm prevention  . NO Ivemec plus..   Ivemec period...

Pyrantel pamoate is safe for a pup at 2 days old. That's only if you think there is a problem. It is one of the safest wormers for hooks and round  worms .I use it every two to three weeks in pups, until they leave, drontal at 5 weeks, ivermectin inject able if whip worms are a problem.whip worms will kill a pup quick.

I used to treat my own but leave it to the vets these days.
Only once a year unless I see signs of a problem, usually early in the winter.   Pups get their first at six weeks.

ok, I am a little ignorant about the whole de-worming process ... So far, we have wormed our pup at 2,4,6 & 8 weeks with Stongid.  I know I will ask for my vet's recommendation, but would also like to know opinions on here as well.  In each of these times, we have just given it to her even though there was not a fecal test done.  Is this normal?  Do we continue on with Stongid & at what intervals?
As far as our adult (the mama dog), we did worm her at 2 & 4 weeks with Stongid.  How often should she get wormed since this?  Do you worm annually, regardless if there is a fecal test done?  sorry for all the questions ..... SitasMom brought up a good question that I had been wondering myself!
