I have been researching GSD pedigrees and came across a website that mentioned this "DDR line 13".
I did a google search and have found only vague information regarding this line. What I have gleaned from the little information that I have found, is that this line is 'infamous'.

What's the deal with "line 13"? Is the line even close enough in the pedigrees of modern dogs for it to be influential?
Why is it infamous?  Who are some of the better known dogs within this line?

I'm very curious and I hope someone can enlighten me or at least reffer me to a good resource that can......

Thanks.

The DDR bloodline 13a is all that is left today. Some pedigrees may have bits and pieces of some of the other ddr lines. When the wall came down most dogs were sold out of the ddr. This 13A was the least of the ddr gene pool and has been compounded over and over through out the years, it has now consumed all the ddr bloodlines. So today most all breeders of the East German dogs have this bloodline. There is only one person i know that has saved the other lines with out the 13A

It appears that Johnsk9 statment is correct 13A is all that is left today. But I am not expert when comes to DDR bloodlnes.

Yes it is correct. Breeders have breed these dogs to sell puppies not save the gene pool. So they have failed to isolate the lines thus breeding themselves into a corner. Now out of this remaining bloodline(13a)  many problems are appearing from no alternative lines of the ddr.
The other ddr bloodlines that once were are the 5a -12 -11 a thru e and the 13a
