Does anyone know what happens with the Breed surveys conducted by local WUSV clubs outside Germany by SV Koermeisters BUT have no official & recognised by the SV ED (elbow dysplasia) scheme?

SV Breed Survey new rules, valid since 2008 onwards, state, that if a dog is born after 1/1/2004, it is required that he has the HD & ED stamp. Some ED procedures from coutries outside Germany (Holland, Spain, etc) have already been recognised.

What happens in other coutries that have WUSV clubs but still no ED procedure is recognised? They do not / cannot organise a Breed Surveys for dogs born after 1/1/2008? Because if they do, I know that SV issues no Breed Survey certificate unless the dog takes the ED in Germany or elsewhere with a recognised ED procedure.

Or, is there some special note for these countries? (eg breed survey valid only in that country and if & when ED procedure is established and recongised by the SV then the breed survey regulations are modified someway so as to include the ED scheme in their regulations?).

IMO, the SV should aid in the enforcement of the breed survey also in countries that have not yet any recognised ED procedure. If we consider what was happening the previous yrs that, no ED was required even in Germany or what is happenning with dogs that are born before 1/1/2004 and do have Kk1 (LBZ) and are still widely used for breeding, I think that the strict & immediate enforcement of that, to WUSV members that have no recognised ED procedure yet, is somewhat unfair...

Any info from similar experience would be appreciated. Thank you ALL in advance

hello Petros , you are right . It's not logic . We have the same problems in Belgium . If we xray our dog here ,the dog cannot get a SV korung . But of course, we are close to Germany . So everybody drives to Aachen or Koln to xray the dogs and have SV official result .

I would think that there should be a way to still send the elbow xray to Germany to have it read.

In the U.S. the elbows aren't officially done through USCA as the a stamp is.  But, they will send the elbow xrays to the SV with a credit card number and the SV will then charge the credit card number and read the xray and record in the official papers.

I don’t think the x-ray should be allowed to be sent in. The SV is needs to know about all the x-rays taken so they can evaluate not just one dog, but whole families. If people were allowed to send them in they would never send in the bad results only the good ones.

In the U.S. USCA sends the xray.   Not every dog that's born in a litter in the U.S. gets an a stamp unfortunately.  I don't think that it happens in Germany either.   As my male was born in Germany and I sent his into the SV for evaluation.   When looking up ZW's only him and his brother are listed, there were 5 in the litter.   It would be ideal if all pups in all litters could be evaluated no matter what the xray looks like.

However, that being said, the owner's send the xrays to the OFA for evaluation.

People that get a bad xray don't send them into USCA.

no, they won't, just like they won't send them to the OFA....

I sent in hip and elbow x-rays through WDA to the SV.

And no, not everybody gets their dogs x-rayed.  It will never happen as long as people are willing to buy pups from people who don't care to do so.

Thank you ALL for your inputs.

However, the discussion has gone out of subject at this point...

Let us be back on track...

Anyone else knows what happens in WUSV clubs that organise koerungs but have no recognised vets for ED?

Thank again.
