hey hope this is not a stupid question. maybe it's just the way i raised her. my girl spunky aka zippy vom haus miller is very sociable and friendly. she likes to try to park her butt in a lap any chance she gets. it doesn't matter if she knew them for a minute, month, or a year. she is very snuggly. we were watching rin tin tin the legend dvds this morning and her front half was glued to my lap on the couch (her butt wouldn't fit unless she sat up, and she wanted to lay down). she is the cuddliest dog i have ever had. people just love her. so i was just wondering if this is normal? hope i didn't bore you.

It's the way you raised her.... It was cute and you let her do it when she was 10#. Now it is a taught behavior and she is prob 70 something #. You give her reward every time she does it by petting her and cuddling back. Better than jumping I suppose. Could be worse.

That's why GSD's are versatile

only if you let it

Hahaha....very true Bok. I agree though, it's how the dog is raised, but if you don't have a problem with it, then I guess she's good

yeah her adoring fans drop to the sidewalk in seconds when they see us coming, just so she can sit in their laps, lol.

For me, it's lap dogs X several. And, on a freezing night, I bring new meaning to a "3 dog night"!

KitKat, apparently that's EXACTLY what 'three dog night' means!

Playing small California clubs, the ensemble still had no permanent name, until one night, Danny's girlfriend, June Fairchild, came up with a suggestion. She had read a magazine article about the Australian aborigines, who on cold nights, would sleep beside their dogs for warmth. The very coldest weather was called a "three dog night".

My female isn't allowed on the furniture, but she does like to come, and, after waiting for permission, park her front end in my lap, and give me kisses. Sometimes she'll just lie there with her head on my chest, and soak up the attention...

Some people might consider it a bad habit, but she's not pushy about it, and is very gentle when she lowers herself down. It's the one little thing I allow her to do. She's not allowed human food treats, or to beg at the table, and i've never let my dogs sleep on the bed or couch (and I KNOW there are many here who DO allow that!)

Abe crawls all the way into my lap, all 90 pounds of him, then curls up and goes to sleep. The girls park their front ends on my lap. Abe also uses me as a pillow at night when he crawls up on the bed, Boa uses me as her matress..... As long as they know it's by permission and not whenever they feel like it.

My girl is more affectionate with my fiancee than with me, or more touchy with him.  She's never been cuddly with me.  She is allowed on furniture and sleeps in the bed.  She has actually climbed in my fiancee's lap when he's laid back in his recliner.  She doesn't do that with me, but I probably wouldn't have allowed that when she was younger so she knows what she can get away with around each of us.

My Zidane son, tough as nails when he works, MAJOR lap dog behind closed doors.  He is the most cuddly dog I've ever had.  And he has that nice, soft coat like his dad so I don't mind him cuddling up and watching a movie or Animal Planet.  But he came to me older, and he'd never been allowed on furniture and I think he was lacking some attention so I let him get away with things I wouldn't let the average dog do.  He is well mannered, doesn't bother anything but his Kong in the house, but normally, I would not allow a 100 lbs dog on my bed.  My female at 65 lbs. is big enough.  But he takes naps with me on my bed, hangs out on the bed with me if I am sick, and such.  My female will hang out on the bed, but if I try to cuddle up to her, she's gone...lol  She's not touchy-feely with me.
