I plan to vaccinate against Parvo using monovalent MLV vaccine, Fort Dodge Duramune-max PV. I was told that it is a high titer low passage vaccine. The dam had just come back from the vet where there is known parvo recently, I am concerned about parvo from vet office. Of course, I will never vaccinate pups at a vet office. I plan to vaccinate at home
end of week five monovalent parvo MLV
end of week seven mononvalent parvo MLV
end of week nine monovalent parvo MLV
end of week eleven monovalent parvo MLV
end of week thirteen duramune max 5 DHPP MLV
Is this a good scedule? I was told that canine distemper is almost non-existent in my area, high desert of SoCal. Thanks

You wouldn't catch me DEAD, walking into a vets office If I had pups. I know it is VERY DANGEROUS to vaccinate pups that have been exposed.
You need a High Risk vaccine, You need to tell your vet of the situation. Did your vet know you had pups at home when they let you walk your dog into their office with parvo in the mix???
Damn, Parvo is Bad,,Voo-Doo, I don't like to even utter the words if I have pups.

I also use the Durammune products, and followed W. Jean Dodds vacc. proto. Did the bitch have her annual vaccinations before breeding?

The last shot, Fort Dodge Duramune-Max 5, DHPPC, for the dam was in Dec of 2006, a little over two years ago.
I go with every three years for adults.
Thanks
Is my schedule for the pups good?

NEVER GO to a VETS OFF ICE WITH THE BITCH OR PUPS WHEN YOU HAVE A LITTER..MAN THAT WAS NOT GOOD JUDGEMENT.
MY VET WARNS ME,,,,OFFICE FULL OF PARVO STAY HOME...MY PUTS GO IN THE TRUCK AND NEVER TOUCH THE OFFICE FOR THEIR EXAMS...
I use Duramine Max 5 at 7 weeks old. Canine Distemper-Adenovirus Type 2-Parainfluenza- Parvovirus Vacine
made by Fort Dodge
Next shot at 3 week intervals. I use shots with no Lepto.

How old are your pups? Have they had ANY vaccinations yet? I really feel that vet was NOT looking out for the best interest of your dogs.
My regular vet was on vacation several years ago when my pups came down with something. I myself believe it was the "so-called" new strain of the virus. All the parvo symptoms, yet tested negative at the vets office.
Anyway, I called the vet, told them what was going on, AND I WAS ON MY WAY. I get to the vet, go inside first, without my pup because there was numerous cars in the parking lot, and I didn't want to expose anyone else's dogs, and sure enough, there was about 4-5 other dogs waiting to see the vet, 2 of them was young pups.
Receptionist says, bring her in. I assumed,(big mistake) that I was going to be brought right into the exam room. WRONG!!! They had me sit in the waiting room,"with the other pets" while my pup had bloody diarrhea,in the waiting room. I asked for something to clean it up with and I was given, plain DRY paper towels. I was mortified that that was the extent of their worry about it.
Needless to say, I WILL NEVER WALK INTO THAT VET'S OFFICE AGAIN.

I hope none of you ever need this, but this helped 2 of my friends who adopted pups from shelters that came down with Parvo. The vets did not think either pup would survive, but they did try this method of treating with Tamiflu, in addition to the other medications. I am not a vet, and I am giving these links here as a convenience, in case anyone's pup gets Parvo- it is something to discuss with your vet. Never administer anything you read about on the net, without discussing it with your vet!!!! You might wish to bookmark these links....One of the articles deals with exposure to Parvo and how to prevent the development of Parvo in exposed pups who have not come down with the disease yet.
