I recently saw the movie, Marley & Me, by Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson. A nice movie that tells the story of a misbehaving Lab. The movie is supposed to be comedy, but I advise you to take a lot of tissue paper with you if you go to watch it.

I would rather take toilet paper to that film.

It is a good thing Labs are already overbred,  because I would hate to see another movie ruin a breed.

I was just reading Cesar's latest book, and he helped Marley's owners 'get a clue' with how to properly train a dog. The lab they got after Marley (Graceie) was much easier to control, but due to being a hunting breed, she took to stalking and killing their chickens.

This movie might actually have the opposite of what most dog movies do to the breed with the staring roll.  This dog was a terror untill his dying day and alomost broke up the family then they show the pain & suffering of the owners when they finally have to put him down.  I think it might discourgage dog ownership over all.  I'm more bothered by the new disney movie BOLT about the White GSD pup who thinks he is an action hero.

Read Grogan's book, don't see the movie.  The movie is looking for cheap laughs  Although the book highlights the misbehavior of Marley, he also decribes the love and devotion the dog had for the family as well as a few instances that really show how that dog was devoted to his family.    John also warns readers about the follies of how to choose a puppy using old wives tales and picking a breeder.  They took exceptionally great care of that dog and from what I have heard, the movie distorts a lot of the Grogan's life with Marley's.

As far as Bolt is concerned, can novices really tell its supposed to be a shepherd?  I had to see the trailer a few times before I decieded that was what he was as opposed to a white huskey.

Novices, probably not so much but here is a link to an example of something that makes me cringe a little (scroll down to about the middle of the home page)... http://www.whitestonekennels.com/

I saw the movie because I'm nuts and go see every movie with dogs in it but- When Bolt does his "super bark" he "stacks" himself totaly shepherd, but not 101 white Dalmations thank god.  IMO-Movie remakes of good books rarley do the book any justice.  I do love live "dog actors" its fun to see other ways to use training, it was cute after the movie my 9 year old son asked me "how did they train that dog to be so bad?"

The euthanasia scene is really heartbreaking if you've ever been through it yourself. It's advertised as a comedy, but it's really not. Also not a good kid's movie.

i'll wait til its on hbo or something - i cry like a baby at movies with animals. in los angeles, a guy stole a lab (like marley) from a pet store, but, from what i gather, his girlfriend turned the pup in and paid for it! the guy will probably go to jail for a bit. at least the girl has integrity. i think we'll probably see alot of labs in rescues and shelters in a few months......

My son read the book before I did so he warned ME about the sad part(s) BTW he was disapointed that they left out the part in the book where Marley runs about holding his bowl.
