I am curious what one would say to another from Bosnia when it comes to thier Holiday tomorrow. Your Orthodox Christmas celebration. We are Jewish, but the young man that my daughter dates is from Bosnia and celebrats this holiday tomorrow in the USA. She is really wanting to wish him a Happy Holiday but does know exactly how or what to say? Any info would greeatly be appreciated. And Happy Holiday to you!
Thanks,
Jerry

A Happy Holiday would be fine but better yet ask HIM about his holiday and what expressions are used . People always love it when you express an interest in them and their customs.

SAY TO HIM
HRISTOS SE RODI.....

I was born in Bosnia and am not Ortodox. Ortodox people in Bosnia (Bosnian Serbs) would say, like Sasa said: Hristos se rodi (Christ is born), and the other person should reply: Vaistinu (Truly, indeed).
There you have it.

BTW Thank you so very much. You made my daughters night! Yiddish and Hebrew are so much differne than cyrilic languages. She so enjoyed the festivities there this evening.
