We have a great 9 month old.  One thing that's been a pain has been when he drinks from his water bowl, the trail he leaves behind after he is done.  It's kind of funny when you watch him but he will lift his head real quick and let the water fly all over the place and then walk away leaving the trail.  Anyone else have this with their dogs and any solutions?

I have 4 dogs; 2 of them are very neat about how they eat and drink, never make a mess or leave a drop outside their bowl.  My other 2 chomp their water and whatever is left they stick their paws in to knock over the bowl, food goes flying everywhere when they eat.  Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about the drooling.

This isn't really drooling, it's more sloppy drinking. I have a sloppy drinker who also likes to paw his water bowl and tip it over. It's just his nature. I think I've scolded him enough for playing in the bowl and tipping it over that he's decided not to do that anymore. But the sloppy drinking continues. I put his water bowl on a plastic mat with a rim around the edge and that helps contain the worst of the mess. Lucky for me it hasn't occurred to him to chew the mat. Yet.  This one tipped a gallon of water out of a big communal water bowl in the kitchen when he was 10 weeks old. Some dogs just like water.

Try sleeping on your back!

sorry! couldn't resist!

Seriously--your dog is enjoying himself--my boy does the same thing- & he's the good one---my little bitch is a really messy drinker. She believes that no water should be allowed to remain for any other dog after she's through...& she'll do whatever it takes to make sure that happens! jh

Josh is a big sloppy drinker, I've caught him biting the water too... now that really does make a mess... but he's clearly enjoying himself!
