I have a question about water bowls. Does anyone know where I can find a stainless bowl that can be fastened to the kennel floor and have some type of release system so that it can be cleaned and filled? Xato my male turns his water bowl over as soon as I put him up. He is a sneaky little shit , he thinks I will let him out and fill it up. I have tried holding out but he has more will power than me.

Thanks, Marty

I have been through the same problem as yourself, and in the end I resorted to checking out the horse supplies area at my local feed supplier.  I didnt manage to get stainless steel, but I have got a bucket which has a flat side and 2 hooks on the back (designed to go over a stable door)  all I've done is fit a bar for the bucket to hook over and its easy to put in and take out, scrubs out easily and seems to stand up to bowl wrecking, plastic chewing GSDs .  Our next resort was to go to an automatic horsefeeder which has a valve system built in and as soon as the dogs empty it, it automatically refills itself.

My dogs like to play in the water, and make a complete mess. If any one knows of a better water bowl we'd love to know.

Hi,

Age old problem!

We are in the process of starting the manufacture of a Secure Water Pail Box that will do just what you are looking for.

It will hold a two gallon rubber pail that the dog cannot get at to dump or chew the pail up. The box is metal and yet still allows easy access.

It may be a few weeks before production starts-but it will start!

In 1 run I have  10 gallon antique crock, keeps the water cool in summer and is too heavy to knock over when full. The other kennel has a sheep stock tank, so my dog can jump in and cool himself in summer, he can't knock it over, push it, empty it it chew it, it's galvanized steel.

Mine would ice skate on the stock tank this time of year, though it must be nice to not have frozen everything this time of year.  I have a pup who throws his water bowl over also, one of those hard to knock over bowls...and he harrasses it and herds it from one side of the dog stall to the other while barking madly.  I'm about to put a flat sided pail in his stall also.

I put the water bucket into a milk crate, amd fasten the milk crate to the chain link. They can chew it a little, but they cannot tip it over.

What's really sickening Veronica, is he still jumps in it in winter when he's really thirsty. He's a dunker, not a lapper. As in... he dunks his head and takes a bite of water, instead of the traditional way.
