I came across this article by Joy Tiz when I was cleaning out a drawer - it had been handed out at a seminar when I was still involved with Schutzhund...... if you have about ten minutes I think she has some good points, and it's worth a read....

For me a great article - pertinent, concise & not too overly complex as some.

I notice that all such articles refer to the same four drives, pack, rank, prey & defense. Is this because they are the ones utilized the most when training?

Can other elements of a dogs temperament be described as drives e.g. food, comfort, play etc or are they (at least the first two) basic instincts that all dogs have?
