1 year old favoring right front leg - Page 1

My 1 year old German shepherd is favoring his right front leg.  He just started doing it today.  Seems to still want to play, doesn't really seem to be in a pain.  While sitting he keeps his leg elevated and when walking he limps quite badly.  Any advice?  I've researched Panosteitis kind of thought he might have that but I tried placing pressure on his leg and didn't seem to bother him.  My next question is is it safe to give baby aspirin or Tylenol to dogs?

Sounds like it could be pano...aspirin is ok...I don't know about Tylenol.  At one year of age he should be able to take a full adult strength aspirin, maybe half in the morning & half in the evening.  Be sure to give it with food.  If he isn't better by Monday, take him to the vet just to be sure.  Let us know how he turns out.

Tylenol is a no for dogs!

I would be more suspect of some type soft tissue injury ,Pano would not normally be acute onst at 1 year old with no previous bouts?  .Anti inflamatoires can help keep soft tissue injuries from getting worse

 My boy Rollie who is 6 months old & 60 pounds, has had a terrible bout of pano, went from his left front leg to his right front leg, at first onset he was actually crying at night, so I took him to the vets & they x-rayed both legs & elbows and there were no fractures, everything looked quite normal, so in the morning I would give him 325mls of Bufferin Asprin, has to be Bufferin, it's coated and easy on the stomach, and then in the evening another Bufferin.

 He's starting to get over it and I haven't needed the Bufferin in the last two days, and he's a happier dog!

 Just wait it out, cause it's growing pains.
