I recently tried the Best Breed Working Dog Diet (promoted as great for highly active GSDs) with three very active GSDs. The results were a disaster! I mixed in a small amount of the Best Breed with their Royal Canin German Shepherd food. All three of the dogs picked out the Royal Canin kibbles and ate them first, then looked suspiciously at the Best Breed kibbles. After shoving the Best Breed kibbles around with their noses for a while, they finally, very reluctantly ate them. This has *never* happened before with any dog food I've tried. One dog had explosive diarrhea during the night, another dog urinated in the house the next day (something he normally never does), and the third dog had loose stools the next day. Did I get a bad batch? Or is this typical?

I've been using Best Breed for a while and have never had any problems nor has anyone I know that uses it. My dogs love it

susanandthek9s you might want to read this -

I feed raw, but even in my kibble buying days I wouldn't have considered this food. It simply isn't on the level of Timber Wolf, Origen, or Taste of the Wild - to name just a few. I'm not saying the ingredients listed here are guaranteed to make a dog sick or have the runs - you may have bought a bad batch as you put it, hence the dogs initial reaction to it - but I think there are far better products on the market.

Thanks for the link, AnjaBlue. What a great source of information!
I've never seen my dogs act so suspicious of a food before--they must have sensed something was wrong with the food.
