Dont know if any of you get Dog World but this was published in today's paper:

Passionate Productions, the production company responsible for Pedigree Dogs Exposed, is working on the Sequel to the controversial BBC Programme.

Writer/Producter Jemima Harrison said the sequel is likely to be screened in 12 months time and added that she has already chosen some of the breeds which she intends to feature.  The aim of the sequel is to move things on, she said.

"Of course we will be looking at things that still need to be put right, such as the weighing of Miniature Dchshunds, but the aim of the sequel is to show how many things can change and hepfully are chainging" she said.

She continued "will a Peke with a longer muzzle win at Crufts 2009, for instance?  If the film showed the problem the sequel will show some of the solutions."

"A sequence on Dalmatians for example, will show hows its possible to rid the breed of its uric acid problem by an outcross to a Pointer   The Cavalier section will, we hope, celebrate the breeders who are now MRI scanning their dogs . . . "

"We will also be documenting those who are really championing change within their breeds such as the tougher demands the group of GSD clubs are making of the KC.  We have been criticised for not including the good things in the first film, but that would not have had the impact it's had.  We managed to bully through change.

Even if the KC had planned the changes, or mooted them, there's no doubt we speeded things up.  There is now real opportunity for breed clubs and breeders to make health a priority  - an make it look like they are.  Its a very exciting time."

The KC declined to comment.

Thanks for that!  It wasn't all for nothing then?

Shame it'll still be the same bias crew doing the sequel, I can't believe they have enough knowledge or integrity to give a true picture... no mileage in the truth!

I've signed up for their newsletter; (passionate productions) does anyone think that it might be worth pestering them?  The BBC have still only sent me the one reply, answering nothing, so maybe if we email PP?

Perhaps they'd be willing to interview someone from our BC and an animal geneticist, rather than the one versed in human genetics on their programme?

I emailed Passionate productions shortly after the programme aired and pointed out all that "Good" breeders do for our breed.  Lets hope they do some good next time round.  Did wonder if we should get them to show the "split" in the breed.

I was thinking maybe we could use them to bully the KC into letting us have what we should have had years ago, compulsary surveys and health checks before registration, or at least before the "enhanced pedigree".

They've gotta be good for something!

My thoughts exactly. How many of us can contact / badger them into helping us out??

I'll do mine on Monday, I hate typing on this bleedin' laptop, the keys are too close together and I'm constantly hitting the wrong ones .  It'll give me a chance to have a good think about what to say too.

There should be quite a few that will be more than happy to email them on a similar vein... here we go again... lol, lol, we're always on the war path but it sounds like there's some progress at last.
