I'm hoping (and bred towards this, even with show lines) that my pregnant girl will present me with a little pup who shows potential and drives for doing well and enjoying Schutzhund.
Is there any favprote DVD or book that you all can recommend to me, for getting the play drives going and starting beginning Schutzhund style tracking? My years have all been spent in AKC obedience. I think I can handle the basic obedience training, from what I've read of the BH test.
thanks for the help. I'm out in the boonies and will have to do a lot on my own.

I use the Gottfried Dildei method. It is the best method of tracking that I have found. Here is the link to the DVD's on Ray Allens website...

Hope this helps

Do yourself a favour and get Sheila Booth's Training in Drive. Even if you've previously done AKC obedience, it is some what different and you need to ask more of your dog. This book will put you in the correct direction.
Best of luck to you and your pup!

Just remember that unlike obedience or even protection, the techniques you use to teach tracking very much depends on the individual dog. IMO it is not useful to teach tracking by "method", you really need to be flexible, what works for one may be conter productive for another. Just get the picture of the ideal track in your mind and work towards that.
