What are the pros and cons of using revolution?
Do you use it? How long?

by yellowrose of Texas on 29 December 2008 - 09:12
No and I will never use it..Too many chemicals to put in a dogs body..I do not let any body that buys my pups use it either.. I had a friends son who is studying research in animal husbandry and they did some research on the combination of chemistry on this revolution and told me the would never use it...He emailed his mom to not let her vet sell it to her either...
Many of the vets here will sell it, but my vet told me not to use it...

I had to respond to this post. My vet talked me into into using Revolution. All 6 of my dogs got terrible ear infections! I will never use it again.

I had a miniature Poodle and I used Revolution on her. It did prevent flees for a short while, but then she had an ear infection. The vet prescribed a medication which was some kind of ointment, and I can't remember its name now. My dog lost her hearing later, and my vet said that the medication he prescribed to me turned out to cause damage to the ear!
Keykat, you mentioned ear infection! I didn't know that it might have related to Revolution!

For heart worm prevention I use Ivomec, for ticks, etc I use nematodes. You can put DE on your dog and that should take care of the problem as well. I have never used DE in that manor though, but know of a few people that have. Since I've been using nematodes I've never had to use any of that chemical stuff on my dog's.
