If it has heat, id call the emergancy and ask them what you should do to treat it tinight so that you can take him in in the a.m. Personally, I would ice it and then keep him quiet until morning, then take him in first thing.

I would ice it for tonight as well, and try to keep him quiet so he doesn't injure it anymore. One good way to ice is if you have bags of frozen veggies, like peas or corn, it will mold around the leg/joint. Learned that from a chiropractor. Also if you have any pills, maybe baby aspirin or doggie aspirin, willow bark, it would help with inflamation. I don't like rimdyll or deramax....if not better by morning bring him in for a look see. Let us know how he is. Most likely a sprain.

Thanks.....I will ice it..he's in his crate so he's is quiet...I do have frozen veggies, so I'll do that, sounds much easier then ice...and I'll call vet in am....I'll let ya know,,,thanks again.

Give him a baby aspirin every 6 hours...or one large animal aspirin...always keep a bottle of doggie aspirin..every 8 hours, and keep crated till you see vet. Ice it and that should be a fun event. He may eat raw veggies...lol
do you have snakes in your area...? Winter time they should all be hybernating,,but in Texas a copperhead or a rattle snake if disturbed and it is humid here, so they are still under wood and in the creek beds, will still grab a dog as they are so nosey., the root them out.
I use Benedryl for snake bites..or bee stings..

Lol..yes the veggies are going over well,,,,as long as i keep giving him a pea every now and then hes sitting still....lol Yellow,,no snakes..I'm in . up until today we had over a foot of snow,,,I keep looking , when he's not..I see not cuts, but it has dirt on that spot,so I', wondering if he hit it on kennel,,,,he can get very kennel "happy" when my girl Fury across from him gets going.....but I'll call vet in am....and I'll keep handing out the veggies ...lol
