Other recommendations for good dry food with low stool volume?

I was feeding my guys Royal Canin for a couple of years, then switched to Solid Gold and saw marked improvement in the quality and also smaller stools.    About a year ago, I switched from the Hundenflocken to the WolfKing and that is the best yet.  Plus, they like it better and the weight and coat stays very good.   I've also heard that Natural Balance is very good, but haven't tried it.

Our girl had a difficult time passing stools while on Royal Canin.  They were low-volume, yes, but dark and hard, which is not always the easiest thing to push out of your bum, and she would strain for what I thought was too long to get it all out.  We've got her on Natural Balance, LID (Limited Ingredient Diet--Venison and Sweet Potato), both dry and canned, and have seen low stool volume with no problems and elimination is quick and easy.

I feed Royal Canin GS-24 to four dogs, nice firm stools and nice coats.  So far this is the only food that works for all 4.

I have all 5 of our dogs on the Kirkland Chicken and rice. They have great stools. Their coats are awesome and they energy levels.  I have not fed the Royal Canin....to pricy for me since we are feeding 5 dogs.

I have used Royal Canin so long that I cannot make a comparison to other dog foods. I normally see firm stools of medium dryness, and my dogs have no problems passing them. But I also realize that not all dogs are equal in regards to the type of food that works well, and perhaps I am lucky that my group seems to do well with a single food.

Best Regards,

Bob-O
