Have a 7 month old male who likes to be pet,the problem is that he likes to take little bites on the hand along with the petting.I have tried to tell him NO BITE and pinch his lip to his K9 tooth and am getting nowhere.Need help.I dont know if this a pahase? My last GSD did not have this problem

Well... it SHOULD (keyworld should), decrease down to just a gentler and gentler nibble over time, until it's barely there and he/she is very gentle with it and then it SHOULD stop alltogether when he matures more.

They do it, cause they are excited to see you, very much likes to be petted and played with. Same with human toddler when they are so jacked up on cookies, juice, candy or whatever else, happy, running around etc... they sometimes bite a parent or a playmate, all in fun. Patience, a few no no's and a few ouches and kids stop over time when they realize there is nothing to gain or eat with those boney human hands.

Keep saying whatever word you are using, like easy, no bite, gentle etc... also redirect to a chew toy, rag, tug or something that he SHOULD nibble and bite. Patience, consistency in disapproval and time, it should go away.

I've got one that's a big talker too, he's also a bum  nibbler... to let you know he wants a biccy!  I should never have laughed and I should never have rewarded him... but he still makes me laugh and he knows it!

You might trying letting out a loud yelp or squeal when he nips, even if it doesn't really hurt, you're letting him know that "OWW! NOT COOL!" in dogspeak.  Also turn your back on him when you do it, until he comes around your side with a "Are you OK?" look on his face.  It'll really get his attention, just make sure you let anyone else in the house know of your new method, so they don't come running downstairs thinking you hurt yourself!  lol

Is this mouthing your hand or nipping you?   Does it hurt?

I have no patience with a dog who nips me, especially if its hard enough to hurt.    Mouthing I understand.

Which is it?
