Okay friends. As a long time importer and trainer I am going to share with ya'll how I translate online ads for GSD's being sold by OTHER long-time importers and trainers.
DISCLOSURE- I am not directing the following personal insights at any specific person, persons or kennels, real or fictional.
- 2.5 yrs old, BH, Good hips and elbows, Good Family Dog, Guard dog, protector, etc." My translation: (A) He's beautiful and well-bred, but he only got as far as the BH, and either won't track or his nerves won't hold up for the SchH 1 or both, and so (B) his/her career in Germany is over and we're getting rid of him to make time and space for the next one.
- 18 mos. old. Good looking dog, great with kids, loves to play, hips and elbows fine, great "Family Dog." My translation- (A) Likes to bark at strangers but probably won't even look at a sleeve. (B) his/her career in Germany is over and we're getting rid of him to make time and space for the next one.
- Excellent, "proven" breeding female. 3.5 years old. Show rated, breed surveyed, titled, good hips and elbows.. to good home. Can be shipped bred to ____. Translation- We put a lot of time and effort into this girl expecting her to make more puppies as good as she is, but so far all she has "proven" to produce is crap so (B) his/her career in Germany is over and we're getting rid of her to make time and space for the next one.
- V rated, SchH1, KK1 female for breeding. 4 yrs old. Excellent health. Possible to make SchH 2 and 3 before sending, and breeding to a good dog. Translation- Anything to help make the sale. She works well enough, but she sure as hell doesn't produce any live puppies so (B) as far as WE are concerned his/her career in Germany is over and we're getting rid of her to make time and space for the next one.
- Super young male dog. Excellent K9 or personal protection prospect. Proven stud. Translation- Our dog got out and bit someone while he was breeding the neighbors' mutt. She had puppies.
If a dog being sold by a long-time importer/trainer is a good show/working/breeding prospect, worth more than "pet" price, (even in the sellers' wildest dreams...) believe me, the ad will SAY so!
OKAY folks. Have a ball...

LOL.

This should be posted on the PDB as mandatory reading for people who have never yet bought and imported a dog, LOL. They can't respond to an ad for a dog for sale until they've read it and signed a waiver!!! Veronica

Top anatomy, beautifull cholour, extra movement, big head and great bitework.
He's too banana backed for even us to work, his color is good now, but is probably going to fade over the next two years, he's loose ligamented, his head is like an Akita, and he maintains his half grip on the sleeve.
Son of 5x VA Kerry v Torberg.
Dog has nothing else to offer...we're selling him on his father's name
Will ship within USA or Internationally at BUYERS expense.
We want to get rid of him, anyone, anywhere, just TAKE this dog.
We don't have time to bring him through the Schutzhund program
He won't bite, he won't track, and his obedience sucks

I love these ads:
TOP MALE/FEMALE 9 MONTHS OLD
What makes this 9 month old male or female tops! Just the bloodline? What has the dog done? I can't call any puppies or young dogs top unless they have proven something in the ring or on the field. At these young ages they surely can't be tops. If they were I don't think they would be for sale.
