Many people here like to argue about stuff. Sometimes its dog related sometimes its not. So I was thinking (that's me always thinking) why not argue about something that could promote the working dog in the United States today. Yes sponsor an AWDF trophy then insult people who did not. They will insult you back. We will get a few people who will make some non sensible statements , a troll or two will take over the thread and we will still promote the working dog in the US . WOW what a concept.
Trophy sponsorships make excellent gifts.....and besides your family probably won't like what you get them anyway so at least you can enjoy what you got them..
My Next schutzhund dog will be a Chia... He has an outstanding long down and I wont need multiple out commands...

Can I list my dogs names as the sponser? I like that idea!

Jeff,
Just wondering - if one sponsors a trophy do they even get a thank you note from the organization? I have sponsored two such trophies with USA in the last several years without so much as even a note thanking me. I thank my garbage man at Christmas and every time I see him for his good work. I thank my clients for their business. And there are others I thank for a variety of reasons. In the past when I have won awards, I personally made sure I thanked the sponsor of the award. Hell, I was not even told who the trophies went to. Piss poor way to encourage people to want to do things for any organization.....this one being USA.
I can tell you from a personal phone call that I received last year that one of the larger former sponsors of events like this no longer sponsors anything with USA because they never even got a thank you from anyone for all their trouble.
I hope you or others on your committee at AWDF won't make the same mistake and will see to it that some modicum of common courtesy is shown sponsors, be they large or small contributors.

Hodie this is what I did last year to thank everyone for their support.
I thanked them in the USA and the DVG article in the magazine articles that I wrote
Along with that I made sure to mention the sponsors at the event as I am announcing, and on the message boards that I posted them on as well as shooting them an e-mail
I really do appreciate all the support that these folks give us.
As for theUSA national events that is kinda a club to club specific thing as the hosting club is responsible for the trophies not anyone from the national organazation.
Last year was my first time doing the trophies for the AWDF so there was some opportunities to improve on and some things that went ok.

First off here's the people who have pleged support so far...
Carlos Rojas, Andre Apporrtella, UDC, AWMA, USA Bob McKown, Nia Cottrell, Yvette Woodward, Anne Camper, Barb Eichman M.D.as well as Ccatti vom Hiddenhaus and Boa Boneshaker. I am sorry if I forgotten anyone cause I'm doing this from memory and everyone knows the mind is a terrible thing.
I really appreciate the support. The working Dog Community is small we all need to work together for the preservation of the working breeds. The money not only covers the cost of the trophy but also helps the AWDF in its mission of supporting the working dog in the US. Whether you sponsor a trophy or volunteer it is really appreciated.
I just wish someone would find a better announcer for some of these events...
