I am looking for a puppy with German show lines that would be suitable for schutzhund. I am very very new to the sport and trying to learn everything I can. All the working line GSDs I have seen were monsters that would never make it as part of our family and were more suited for kennel life. I am having a hard time finding dogs that seem to have enough drive and are correct looking. I must be stupid because it doesn't seem like it should be so hard to find. I am located in San Diego, but willing to travel to find the right puppy!

Any one can contact me at thegoodstuff77@aol.com with information.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Definitely Witmer-Tyson. Sorry I can't personally recommend anyone in the southern CA area. San Mateo County is easy to get to. Say hi to Randy and David for me. :-D

For show lines?  Wustenbergerland is good.  Mike and Jan are very active and successfull in the show ring.

I don,t believe you have looked well enough, all my dogs are house hold dogs and all working lines with high drives it is all in the training. You will pay twice as much for a show line dog and get half the dog for the money.

I didn't buy from them, but visited their facility. They seem to be very nice and professional people and have great dogs. The prices, however, were a little too high for me.

I agree with Bob.  If you prefer the look and the drives of a show line,  that's fine, BUT I would never describe even the highest drive working line dogs as monsters.  I have  always had very high drive working line dogs and they have also been my house dogs.  The key  is adequate work and exercize.  Let's say I am sick.  My adult dogs will forgive me 1, maybe 2 days of laying around and doing nothing, but by the 3rd day I had best  get busy or put them in the kennel, otherwise they will start bugging me and/or  find their own entertainment!  Of course, this is another reason I love them, they keep my lazy rear end off the couch!

You might want to contact this guy  I don't know much about show lines, but I have seen this dog work:  http://www.wck9.com/dogssalestud.html
