Several months ago I posted and asked anyone if they knew of Ursus was still alive and if so where was he. I got several replies but just wasnt satisfied so I dug a little deeper. After several hours of digging around on the net, I found an email address for Erich Orschler. So I decided to send a message and hope for a reply. Well it came today and I thought I would share with the board.
His reply was as follows: Sehr geehrter HerrPollan,
Very honored gentleman pole lans,
Thank you very much for your enamels. Ursus unfortunately already died. It was a shepherd dog speech wonderful, typical that left outstanding and was a breeding column ion of that shepherd dog real. Because it was such an outstanding animal, it never was sold, but rather was able to be conclude also in the house of its owner life.
With best greeting, Erich Orschler
This may not interest many of you, but having a great granddaughter of Ursus is an honor to me and I just wanted to know.

My young male is linebred on Ursus - that's a big part of why I got him. I was a fan of Ursus - a very lovely dog and a good worker too. May he be happy at the Rainbow Bridge. ![]() by Sunsilver on 17 December 2008 - 05:12 Very sorry to hear this news. He was a great dog! I have an Ursus grand-daughter. It would be nice if I could find out just how old Ursus was when he died. Her maternal grandsire died suddenly at age 9, so I am hoping she inherited some longevity from the Ursus side! ![]() by Bob-O on 17 December 2008 - 10:12 Greg, thank you for the update. The Ursus has a place in history as one of the latter great GSDs who was a great producer as well, and he was allowed to slip this world in the dignity that every dog deserves. I too thought that he had quietly passed but there was no news about this matter. But that is just as it should have been.
