Newcomer to the PDB - Page 1

As it is pouring rain here, figured it would be a great night to join the PDB.  I thought it would nice to tell you a little about myself and my dogs.  I’ve owned & trained Shepherds for 20+ years…love the breed.  Started out doing AKC Obedience with my dogs.  Did put a UD on one of my dogs.  One day a group of us decided to have our dogs tested for herding instinct.  As I became intrigued with herding a friend of mine told me about Ulf Kintzel who teaches the tending style of herding.  Well eleven years later, three HGH titled dogs (10 HGH titles collectively), and three times winning the competition, I have retired from herding to try my hand at Schutzhund.  The dog I am currently training in Schutzhund, and for his AKC UD, is from Ulf’s kennel - Eian vom Quasliner Moor, 2xHGH, CDX, TC, CGC.  He is a great dog, fabulous temperament, always in overdrive (when training/playing), and always barking (or talking) his way through everything.  His mother (Berta vom Quasliner Moor, 4xHGH, SchH2, HICs, CD, UCD) is currently working towards her SchH3 and AKC CDX titles at the age of almost 9.  I am also training my other dog Ariana vom Quasliner Moor, 4xHGH, BH, CDX, HXCs towards a tracking title (TR1).  Ariana was nine years old in September.  Anyone have some spare time they can lend me?  Also, most of you know Rezkat.  Her Lexie (Elexa) and Eian are littermates.

I’ve been monitoring the database for a while and I can say it is certainly a great source of information and so many people offer great advise and have a wealth of knowledge to share.  I’m looking forward to participating.

I wish it was only raining here, we are having a Ice storm.............  Yikes    I hope it is not as bad as the last one....

We may get the ice here overnight.  Hopefully it's not too bad for either of us.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes.  It's really amazing to think you can communicate with folks interested in the GSD all around the world!  Great to have so many interesting diversified opinions.  I really appreciate the knowledge that folks have on the database and the willingness to share.

Chicki - thanks for the complement on my experience.  I'm always learning & certainly have a long way to go with the Schutzhund training as I'm new to the sport.  I consider myself lucky to be working with two great trainers so that I can learn.  I'm looking forward to reading the training threads.
