We started her on prednisone today, they think she should make it in to the new year but the tumors got so big so fast I'm a little skeptical. We opted out of chemo & radiation treatment I'm not one for making an animal suffer more so they might live a little bit longer. Has anyone ever go through this with their dogs....? I've lost dogs to old age & others that had to be PTS but I've never done "hospice" care with a sick dog. She has never not finished her food and she seems "o.k." but she wakes us up at night to go out and she is peeing alot more often and we'll see but it sounds like there will be more peeing with the prednisone. I am sorry to hear about your girl. The Prednisone will mimic the symptoms of diabetes, thirst, hunger and increased urination. I am hoping that she stays comfortable for a good while yet, for both of your sakes.

I am so sorry to hear about your girl I had a 6 year old male shepherd named Luke who had the same thing. I know how you feel. Up until 2 days before he went he felt not bad at all, we went every day for ice cream and walks, and swims in the ocean...he had a blast!

I'm sorry that your dog was diagnosed. I hope whatever treatment you decide on buys you some quality time. I just wanted to share my experience with my boy who has lymphoma and is currently enjoying his 2nd remission due to chemotherapy.
My 5 year old male was diagnosed with lymphoma last May. He completed a 6 month course of chemo and was in remission for almost one year post chemo (17 month remission total) when the lymphoma came back this October. He is currently undergoing chemo again and is once again in remission. He went through the chemo treatments with only a few days where he didn't feel 100%. In fact toward the end of the 1st round of chemo he actually felt alot better than when he started. My boy has B-cell lymphoma and was considered stage IVa last year as he had involvement of lymph nodes in 3 different locations. The doses they give dogs is less than they give people so they don't get as sick.
