Does the SV accept the title of "SG" for breeding purposes? Or is the minimum requirement SchH1?

While looking through different Pedigree's in the past I thought I observed many dogs with just an SG title.

I'm not planning on breeding anything, just wondering what the minimum SV Title requirement is.

An "SG" is NOT a working title. SG means "Sehr Gut" or "Very Good". It is a conformation rating given when a judge rates a given dog in a conformation show according to the established breed standard. The first title to be earned, after a preliminary basic obedience BH (which is NOT a title), is Schutzhund 1 or an HGH (herding) title.

SG means very good as stated above, and awarded in conformation ring for any dog over the age of 12 months of age.

An adult without a title such as sch 1, can only receive the highest conformation rating of SG.  In order to receive a V rating a dogs must have a working title like a sch1.  V stands for excellent in conformation.  A SG title can also be awarded to dogs with conformation faults in an adult working class.

A showline line dog with a working title is desired to have a V rating, while most of your working line shepherds will receive a SG rating, this is OK because the dogs are bred more for the intense working ability and drives verses conformation as a top priority.

For breeding a dog should have at least a sch 1, SG or above conformation title, and ideally KKL-1 or KKL-2. With the titles the dogs are also required to have hips and with WDA elbow certifications, temperament test and AD endurance test.

Showlines prefer V or VA ratings with Sch1 or greater with KKL-1. VA is only awarded at the Sieger shows.  VA means excellent select, only the best receive these titles.  To be eligible for VA a dog must have a Sch 2 or higher, AD, KKl-1 and pass bite work at the seiger show in front of a large crowd.  The parents of these dogs must also have proven there ability to work and be titled also.   They also like to see what the dog has produced before awarding this "world champion" title.

Titles before the dogs name are conformation titles, after the name are working titles.

I hope this isn't to confusing!

"VA means excellent select, only the best receive these titles."

That is one of the funniest things I have read on this forum in a long time. If only it were true!

To confuse you more....

If the dog is over 3 years 6 months, it must be breed surveyed in order to get a V show rating.

As Hodie said, a HGH (herding utility dog) is an accepted title for both breeding and to be breed surveyed.
