Greetings all; lately there's been great discussions on the top working line kennels and the top show line kennels. In creating a list of the top "golden middle" kennels, who would you add?
I use the specific distinction "kennels" rather than "breeders" to take into account those that may import dogs?

She's outside the US by about 60 miles across the border in Canada, but Tracy Bullinger speaks to the golden middle on her website, and her dogs look the part and have titles as well. By all accounts she's highly regarded, as are her dogs.

Shelly, The information posted about Top Trainers and Kennels is so helpful to a new comer to the Breed, I hope the response is good. Thanks Bill

What the heck is the golden middle? What do they produce that the left or right doesn't?

Explain GOLDEN MIDDLE! What are you looking for in a German Shepherd? I have heard the term used by American German Shepherd Breeders, but when asked, no straight answer.

My idea of "Golden Middle" is breeding working lines for correct/better structure while still breeding for their strong temperament and drives, not allowing them to get so high or extreme that they cannot live in the house or be good with the family. They should be beautiful, healthy, be able to work at high levels - as high a level as the handler can take them - AND be able to live in the house with the kids and cats. I breed my dogs to be this way - beautiful, excellent working prospects AND family companion dogs (all at the same time, same dog). This is my goal and I've been accomplishing it for many years. And though I only have one show-line female - she is excellent in her temperament, nerve and drives, and I breed her to produce the same or better - again, a beautiful dog that can WORK (has the drives, temperament and nerves to do so) and still come home and sleep by the kids's bed (or in it). So far so good on that road too - check out my show-line male pup (20 months in these videos) - "he works great for a show dog", and he's beautiful too.

just for the record, I do not mix show with working lines - I think that usually does not work well, it waters down one or the other. I would rather concentrate on making my working lines more correct in structure while not watering down their working abilities, and my show lines work better while not making them less beautiful. "The Golden Middle" for me.

The term "golden middle" is probably a corruption of the Golden Mean, this from WIKIPEDIA:
This article is about the philosophical concept of moderation. For other uses, see Golden mean.
In philosophy, especially that of Confucius and Aristotle, the golden mean is the desirable middle between two extremes, one of excess and the other of deficiency.
To the Greek mentality, it was an attribute of beauty. Both ancients and moderns realized that "there is a close association in mathematics between beauty and
