A SchH I!!!!
You all may think he's a fluke, but what I think is that he is a testament to somebody doing something with his dog!

Are you the proud owner? I have heard of both his dam, and even his sire's line producing really good, sound temperaments. He goes back to GV Color Guard right? too bad more people don't get involved in sports, and training with their dogs, there are quite a few american dogs who can do the work, just not enough owners willing to pursue the training with them. may I ask what his scores were?

Xeph, the thing I would like to see is for American showline dogs to start getting performance titles. Preferably SchH, but herding and tracking are good too, something like those things the breed was designed to do. It's harder to do SchH and German style herding in the USA, since there aren't clubs available to everyone who would like to try it and 200 sheep are hard to come by. But until we in the US start demanding Am. showline dogs have performance titles, the exaggerated Am. showline look will continue.
That said, the dog you posted above looks normal to me, although I personally prefer a black/red or black, but that's just my personal preference. I could tell by the dog's head that he was male. That's one of my pet peeves, the bitchy looking male. I should be able to tell if a dog is male or female just from a head shot. The dog above would look better if allowed to stack himself naturally, but I see that was a GSDCA club show.

Not his proud owner unfortunately, but the actual owner has posted it to a few webgroups and I had to share because SOMEBODY cares about working their dog ^_^ That picture was him at his maturity.
While he still has too much rear for me, I'm very glad that he went out and attained his one :D
And you are correct Uber Land about his lineage :-) He is a GV Boss great grandson. Both sire and great grandsire were Grand Victors! The same kennel also produced the 2007 Grand Victrix

Fantastic, hopefully they are an inspiration and other American style fanciers follow suit.

Xeph, I know 3 other all american line gsd's that also got a sch 1. I also know of a guy who in his old club they put a sch 1 on a white gsd. But for each one of those dogs i have seen a 100 that would not make a title. Your argument is that any dog can do the work and that could not be farther from the truth. There is a large genetic portion to the work and some dogs do not have what it takes. I get the feeling that you have not titled a dog in schutzhund or any other sports that involve gripping or any sports that demand a high degree of training or drive. I think if you are interested in training dogs i would highly recommend going and working with some trainers that seriously train for performance. I would recommend go to some competitive schutzhund and ring clubs and do some research on other working breeds such as the malinois for it is almost strictly a working bred dog. I read in another post you live in WI if so there are some people that train for ring sports in Navarino WI and they do very well. I would suggest go check them out, they are dog people they will not bite you. Maybe you do not want to train ring sports but it is dog training and you could learn alot from them probably.
I wish you well in your quest for knowledge.

True, but this one did, so be happy for this one ^_^ It's something.
I have trained in grip sports, but not titled. I'm on my very first competition dog, and money prevents me from training in schutzhund any further at this time. There're two Navarino, WI's it would seem...one is 12 minutes from me, and one is 44 minutes from me.
I'm not saying this dog did his work WELL, because I don't know, BUT he DID do the work...and I doubt they were light on him...I wouldn't doubt they tried to run him off. He may have passed by a slim margin for all I know...but he did the work, and I'm proud of that, even if he isn't my dog.
That said, if you could give me the names of who trains in these ring sports (if you know), I'd be happy to check them out :-)
