Hello... I have a 7 and half month old GSD... he is in Schutzhund training... have been since age of three months... He has fantastic temperament but occasionally very testy... clearly comes with his age... I need a e-collar to clean up some of his misbehaving and slow responses... once, off leash, am worried that he will chase anything that stimulates him as he has done in the past with no reaction from my commands... so I need opinion onto what is better choice, Tri-tronics Pro 500 G2 or the Dogtra 3500NCP Super-X for me to purchase... I thank you in advance...

Because the stem is more consistant with Tri-Tronics, I hear nothing but complaints about all other collars. I still have the collar I bought 6 years ago. Well made product.

i say tritronics.  i have purchased two of the sport models as the pro was a bit high.  i have since been asked to test a protoype of the field 90 series, not even on the market yet.  i am loving this new transmitter.  i have three collars programmed and is true one hand operation.  one mile range, thumb toggle for dog selection and rechargeable trans as well as reciever.  i have only seen the pro, have not worked it.  i will for sure buy this model when it becomes available.

i have a tri tronics pro 100 and a new dogtra 2300.  the more i use the dogtra the more i like.  actually for the price difference you may want to look at the 2300 model.

with the dogtra you have more options as to stim. level.  it has a digital readout to show you the level you are using.  half the price of the tritronics.  warranty as good, if not better.

if you are looking for best prices,  check out k9electronics.com

also, in case you didnt know, most of the people who started dogtra got there start  with tritronics.

Hello John, that's because Tri-Tronics has been around a longer time. I too have the Pro 100 that's all I need. Used the old Sport 50 for my pet dogs for years, slapped a new battery in it and it's still as good as new. Everyone I know that has multiple collars grabs the Tri first and only goes to the Dogtra if the Tri isn't charged.

I also say Tritronics.  Nothing elso comes close.  I depend on my collars everyday.  3 tritronics and 1 Sportdog, the sportdog is a joke compared to the Tritronics.

Dependable, reliable, consistent., waterproof, almost idiotproof.  Some have parts so small you have to have a magnifying glass to change settings.  Tritronics is visible and very easy to use.

Bottom line is you get what you pay for without headaches of it not working when you need it.  If price is an issue, collarclinic.com has used collars refurbished with guarantees.  And I don't get anything for referrals.  Good luck!

Tritronics is awesome...but why on earth do you want to put an e-collar on a 7 month old dog? Wow! Someone gave you some terrible advice.  He's a puppy, he needs time, maturity, more training. I have a 6 month old pup here with me, the idea of throwing an ecollar on her in a month and a half is unthinkable.  If he's "testy" and unresponsive, he needs more real training.  I'm sorry, but I had to be honest on this one. I will not put an e-collar on a dog under a year, and even then not every dog is a candidate for it, in my experience.
