Mum of Zoe

by Mum of Zoe on 09 December 2008 - 01:12

This is just a short video I put together of Zoe playing fetch at work with her favorite stick.  She is a pet, spayed, and we do not plan on enrolling her in any sort of special training besides more advanced obedience classes and agility sometime in the future.  Sorry the clips are so short!  In the first one she started to come to me instead of Dad and I had to cut that one short.  The second and third are a little better at showing her trot and run.  My apologies if the video was taken at a bad angle for proper assessment.

Here are some front shots from that day of her "prance dance":

Please dont use sticks. So much can go wrong and it can be avoided by getting a hard rubber "stick"

I think my Aila would be heartbroken if I never let her have a stick again. Any plaything has the potential for an accident. Hell, what doesn't?

Looks like you've got nice agility and obedience dog there.  Time to go dumb bell shopping if you haven't already.

Thank you Terri.  Would the best place to get dumbells be online?  Or do you just use the soft ones sold at Target and sports stores?

We've had more problems with store-bought toys than sticks!  Even with Kong toys, she'll find a seam or just the right spot and proceed to tear it apart.  We can't leave any soft toy or ball with her unattended.  She'll bring sticks, pinecones, and items that we didn't even know were in the backyard on the porch, and either eat it or use it to engage our other dog to play with her.  Besides her having plenty of fiber in her diet (lol), I also read that for dogs, chewing sticks is akin to chewing on bones in the wild, that it satisfies an urge to gnaw on something.  As long as they're not poisonous or have sharp stubs sticking out, what's the harm?  No splinters as of yet and besides the sticks, she eats pinecones.  She's like a wood pulper, and has a cast-iron stomach!
