Shelley Strohl

I am always noting people who say mixing show and working lines is dumb, unsuccessful, hardly ever done by the top breeders from either side of the fence in Germany. Some of us know better, so here is a thread I hope you will find interesting and seriously thought-provoking which will include the results of breedings from such combinations. Some of you might be surprised at who is doing such a thing, and doing it WELL. Enjoy!

1- Who on earth would mix Larus Batu, Uran Wildsteigerland, with Metin Stadfeld, Boomer Emsbogen and Fero Zeutener Himmelreich? Does the name Dieter Nitschke/ Schloss Veitenstein ring any bells? (think SV Judge with a lifetime history of producing beautiful dogs with impressive work. http://www.schloss-veitenstein.de/frame.htm

2- How do you build a Universal Sieger? Here's one of SV Zuchtrichter Margit Van Dorrsen/vom Arlett's recipes-   http://www.arlett.de/hunde/ignazvonarlett.html   She has more Universal Sieger recipes, of course...

Anybody else??? Jump right in here!

Hello Shelley, You are right.  I had the pleasure of seeing Boomer and Heinze Gerdes years ago.  Boomer was an impressive dog with very nice structure, I believe he was V rated with outstanding working ability.  He would  inflate his lungs at the scent pad before tracking.  It was tan incredibly deep breath Boomer would take to start the track.  Both Boomer and Fero would have been good cross over choices.  Nice structure, pigment and excellent working ability.

Don't know much about the working lines, but That is a BEAUTIFUL GIRL there. Wouldn't mind having one like her for myself.

That is one gorgeous dog. Nice mass and you can see the spirit and fire in her eyes. If that's the result of show/work breeding, it should be done more frequently.

I love my female ...

She has great ball drive and is well balanced in protection.  Her dam's brother was the New Enlgand Regional Champion this year - Jasper vom Kleinen Teich (showline).
