How is everyone dealing with these bitter cold temps? My dogs are doing well, but they shake their heads & paw at their ears when they come in. I limit the time they spend outside when the wind chills are below zero...they can probably deal with it, but I can't! LOL! Anyone else? jackie harris

One of my girls spends most of her time outside and the puppy usually spends a lot of time out with her.  But I noticed today they both spent most of the day in.  And the older girl I didn't even have to call for supper.  She came and went right in her crate about 30 min. before it was time to eat.  They were like we're cold Mom.

my first post,,been lurking for several months,I have 2 females, will be 6 months here shortly,,we are in MN,dogs have a insulated dog house filled with straw inside of a barn.I dont let them in the house when its this cold,to hard on them to go in and out,,today was -30 with wind chill..they where out digging holes in the snow banks and chasing each other around the tunnels they made..very funny to watch..they are on prey model raw,and I have never seen dogs play as much as they do,,like for 5 hours at a time, take a little nap and back at it..they are locked in the barn snug at night, the chickens dont freeze so I figured the dogs would be fine.took them x-country skiing for the first time yesterday and they loved it,was like 10 above then...

I can tell you it makes cross country travel with multiple dogs in a vintage vehicle pretty scarey. Normally dropping all the way down to I-40 would insure non-life-threatening temps. Not this time. For this reason, and the less-safe road conditions, (read: dog trailers have been known to flip) my dogs are making this trip in crates in the van rather than the dog trailer.

My girl stays inside all the time so she is fine with this 2 degree weather.  When she needs to go out she is in heaven.  The cold makes her friskey and she jumps and runs and just has a blast.  Good thing she comes when I've had enough! -15 windchill this morning.  BRRRRR!
