Please tell me about your experience with your Tiekerhook pup ?   I heard they were very hard biters,Full grip right from the start.

I imported a pup from him back  in 1991.  He was a great dog for me, BUT guard against generalizations, no one breeder has a magic formula, not all puppies are going to be great monsters just because they come from any particular kennel.  If  after researching dogs and bitches, you find there is a particular breeding that looks like it will produce the type of dog that is right for you, then consider it.

They are just like all the rest----some good, and some bad!!!!

I would first ask myself what I want in a dog, then see if Tiekerhook Kennels is the right kennel for me.

Sorry to be so blunt, but the bottom line is that they're very few breeder's left where you can just buy a dog because of the name behind the name!!!

I rather have a dog from a kennel that no one knows about, that works the way I want it to work v.s. one from a well known kennel and does not mount up to crap!!!

Oaklawn,

Where are you located?  If we have a clue about where you are, we can perhaps recommend some breeders and/or clubs close to you where you can check out dogs and puppies, find out who is producing what you like, or think you may like, etc.   Sueinc is very right:  even the best breeders have some lesser dogs from their kennels and some breedings that they'd never repeat.

One thing you can  use as a measure though is whether club members  in a particular area have dogs from that mroe local breeder.  To me, it is a DEAD GIVE AWAY, if  it seems that nobody in any club in a  particular region has dogs from that breeder.  That means to run away very quickly--either the dogs, or the business practices, or both leave a lot (if not everything) to be desired.

Tiekerhook is probably as best as it gets. But also depends on what you want to do with the dog from these high end lines and also whether YOU are capable of handling such dogs.

cheers. & Email me if you want specific inputs

You have to take the good with the bad . Skin problems are the only thing I found that kept popping up in the proghenyof SOME Tiekerhook.

Just ask owners of these lines personally to convey to you the pros and cons..All lines have both. Very hard biting grips with determination and high working drives. Along with that can be a dog that takes a very knowledgeable handler and must be trained with knowledge and know how to read the pup thru adult hood or you will have 5 handfuls of problems.

Just watch how close line breeding is done on both dam and sire.

OMG AhSighEE, the manner of your writing in bold with highlights is scare mongering.  Tiekerhook dogs have been around for many decades.  Skin problems can arise depending on the which breeding it came from.  As far I know, not any from Koos' breedings and I have yet to hear of one.

Perhaps you could enlighten us with your findings.

I doubt it poseidon.  AhSighEE is Yellowrose  Thats why you get the same bold writing and highlights.  Right Kevin?

Every line has pro's & con's. I don't care WHO they are. I have seen Tiekerhook dogs I have liked and not liked, some had faults and some were perfect. It's the risk we take to get the lines we want and I do agree, search the internet and talk to those who own adults from the lines you are interested in.

Good luck,

Tina
