Okay, I am throwing a holiday dinner for my boss and co-workers.  Does anyone know what a traditional holiday dinner would consist of.  hor'devours, sides, main dish, drinks?  Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,

Windy

Oyster's on the half shell, and oyster soup, Egg Nog, Christmas cookie's, Turkey and dressing just like Thanksgiving with all the fixin's unless you want to substitute a Goose.  Hot tottie's or buttered rum, a nice wine maybe.   Pie! lotsa pie !!

It depend's on your tradition's I guess.

You could alway's call the caterer.

The oyster's and the soup, those little round cracker's, really was the family tradition when I was young.  The rest was negotiable.

The trips to Grandma's house will always be some of my fondest memories.

And Grandpa always gave each grand kid a box of cherry chocolates.

Okay, I'm confused.  I don't post much here, but I do read here and there.  It was my apparently false impression that this was a GSD board.  I find so many threads here that have little to nothing to do with GSDs.  Can someone here help me understand why there is so much other crap on here?

BTW    www.foodnetwork.com    Lots of great recipes . . .    :{

LOL....... KathyMo !!

Why don't YOU post a dog related thread???

And end your confusion.

Moon's.

KathyMo when you see OT, it stands for off topic, non GSD related.

I like to keep things simple, I think I want some time to enjoy the Holidays too, not just be cooking. For appetizers around here we like deviled eggs (ALOT! LOL!), chips/veggies and dips, smoked oysters. For Christmas I always do a Prime Rib, au jus, garlic bread, salad, baked potatoes. For drinks, not fussy here either but wine would be good, depending on the people a good imported dark beer. Or Moose Drool (locally brewed)  I know, I'm a redneck.... For desert pie!!!  I make a pretty darn good homemade crust and anything that goes in usually tastes good. I bought one pie this year and made three. There is atill some Cyrus O'Leary left, gotta throw that puppy out, the homemade is long gone.

I donno, I think that this community also is a place to get advice from others.  Sometimes something different breaks it up a little and it is nice to hear what others would do in certain situations.  For instance, because of Moons suggestion I am going to serve a oyster dish at my Christmas party.  It is just one GSD lover offering advice to another GSD lover.

If it is any consolation, my GSDs will be at the party.  Does that help?
