AlliGSD911

I was hoping to show and title my first schutzhund dog on my own, but mother nature has prevented me to do so. I have a really nice showline male that is 13 months old, and I don't want his potential to go to waste.  I am interested in finding a trainer that could Schutzhund train, title and show him. Or at least start him until I can get back into it myself later on.   I really would like recomendations of trainers that are reputable  and reasonable.  I haven't decided 100% that we are going to go this route because I have to find the RIGHT trainer and the right situation......this is my "baby".  =)  I just don't want to kick myself in the butt years from now for letting his potential go to waste and not taking him to his potential.  I live in the midwest.

Sorry to hear it.

Hope it's nothing too serious.

BTW, I saw your puppy picture's,  cute !

I hope you can find someone to help with your training, shame no one is close, least I don't know of any close.

Moon's.

I met this guy and his wife at NASS. They moved here from germany and I would give him a good look if I needed a trainer.www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/classifieds/64433.html

Thank you, they are adorable.  Will be Esther and Bannan's last litter.  Both are being altered and staying with family.  I will only have this young male and my big goofy Doberman.

Thank you Rik, I'll definately check them out!

I went to take a look at this ad for this man, and he lists himself as a Regional level classified helper with USA, and soon to be National.  Check out the list at  http://germanshepherddog.com/members/HelperList.htm  and you can see that he is just at a Basic level.

He may be a wonderful trainer, and treat your dog well while in his care, but the first thing I'd look for is if the trainer is telling the truth.  While it may just be an oversight (although it's my belief that the helper list is up to date) I would definitely look into it carefully before sending your dog off to someone.

There has been too many cases here lately of people innocently sending their beloved dogs off for training and then things turn out very bad.  Do your homework!

Also, I have a friend who is German and she said that when she first got into SchH people came to her for answers, even though she didn't know anything. She said people assumed she knew simply because she spoke German and had the accent!

KathyMo,

I was at the helper certification this fall (September or October I think) where Peter was going for certification.  He did receive WDA regional level certification.  The website must not be up to date.
