are you required to have insurance in order to operate a club registered with Sch USA?

i dont know the answer,

but why would you want to operate one without insurance?  did you read the post last night about the woman wanting to SUE because a different woman was advertising using PICTURES she GAVE to her? why would you want to leave yourself unprotected from liabilities?

granted if nothing ever goes wrong it is cheaper to not have insurance... but if something does go wrong then what?

First, the name of the organization is United Schutzhund Clubs of America (USA). The name of its MAGAZINE is K Schtzhund USA." :-) If you have requested the Forming Club packet from USA, you will note that insurance information regarding Sportsman's insurance is included. EVERY club should carry insurance. As someone asked, why would you not? Shit happens.

I think all ScchH clubs in the US are insured with Sportsman's, ours included. The rates are really reasonable for the coverages. They have hardly risen in 20 yrs. In all my years in the sport, I have only ever heard of two claims made for injuries at a SchH club, but I'll bet they were glad they were insured when it happened! The parent company for Sportsman's, Ginzler-Smith, also write Kennel-Pak insurance for kennels. Very nice to deal with.

Sportsman has never been shy about the fact that the vast majority of dog club claims have come from AKC clubs. One year, over a decade ago, I was told by one of their reps that the bassett hound folks were the big claim-filers that year. :-) Who would have thought!! There are other insurers, no more than a handful, but their restrictions (like no starter pistol use), or premiums amounts, lead to folks staying with Sportsmens.

i was really only asking out of curiousity...i guess it was a strange question.

While it was a waste of time to you, perhaps it will be helpful to someone with something more than idle curiosity.
