We have an 18 mth old male GSD "Viggo" who is a very fussy eater. He is our third GSD so we regard ourselves as fairly experienced owners.
Our first "Raffles" we fed on raw meat and tripe with supplements, cooked veg, biscuit, scrambled egg ,leftovers etc. He was in great condition, ate well, grew big, very active and lived to nearly 15.
Our second dog "Jago" suffered with his tummy and we fed James Wellbeloved Chicken Kibble for sensitve dogs with occasional tripe and Neutrogena packs to add a bit of variety. He ate well and he too grew to be a big active dog although we sadly lost him to cancer of the spine. We gave him sleep at the age 11.
Viggo,on the other hand is a real pain. We have tried loads of stuff. Tripe, raw meat and biscuit etc, James Wellbeloved, Royal Canine,Hills Science Plan, Butchers. Mera Dog ( his breeders use it) Happy Dog. We mix gravy with it, add a few tasty titbits to tempt him.......take his bowl away after 10 mins. He eats a bit then walks away.
He is fit and active although has been suffering with pano these last 6 months. He weighs 37 Kg which I think is a bit on the light side.
Recently we have put him on Salters Adult Maintainence which he quite likes but we don't know much about it. I was wondering if anybody out there feeds Salters and what they think of it. Also any advice on getting him to eat regularly would be much appreciated.
