Hi. I have to use this R.C Hypo Food for Pup Goran, and we have people and there dogs on here using a similar Hypo food of various makes.
Yesterday i had to get a nother Bag as i was running short, I was told the price has gone up,
Now to me i do not want to feed the Dog this Kibble but enough has been told about my own Dog and his reasons for having to have it, that i for one have no option if i want to be fair to the Dog and keep him healthy of which he is
Why is it that R.C Take advantage of this fact, They are holding people like me to ransom because our Dogs need this sort of food to live
Of course it is only sold by Vets and i expect they get a chunk of cash from it
I am now as mad as hell, and that is not my nature, I think if i ever met these people doing this to us knowing we have no say in it , they would rue the day we met
it has now gone up to $107 for a 33 lb bag in euros 84.6 euro
In euros that is 5.6 euros a kg two and a quarter pounds in weight
That is more than i i can afford to spend a day for meat or fish for a daliy dinner for two people
Two Chicken breast portitions cost 4,5 euros
I think is is completely wrong that this should happen, we know what they will say if contacted, the price of raw materials have gone up,
do not know about that but the bloody profit margin has
Sorry to carry on but i am not a happy fellow

I know how you feel .I have to use Purina HA and it costs £60 for a 13kg bag. The bag lasts around three weeks, maybe three and a half at a push. Yes I feel as if I am being held to ransom. but what else can we do. Our pet insurance pays for Bradys treatment for IBD which has already cost £3,500 and counting, but it does not cover his food. To me, the food is part of the treatment!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Caught in a catch 22!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brady Lee
Have a look at the Arden Grange website, They have a Fish and Potato Kibble with no grain at all
Goran is allergic to MEAT Protein, i wonder if this Fish and potato food will be okay
If i can buy a bag and feed 50% every meal
With a Meat Based diet 50% his stools start to go soft within two days of feeding it so i know that will not work
If this happens with the fish potato kibble then i can only stop feeding it if there is a reaction to it
If this kibble works i can save 30 euros a month
But if it sdoes not, it will mean that R.C will be the winners
But what with me losing over 60 euros a month from my Money which comes from England, Sterling against the Euro
The Cost of training the Dogs Fuel wise 250 kms a week, and now Gorans food price rise, it will be a problem coping with it all,
But i guess we all have very near in the same problem now, no matter where we live
Now we have the bad times and probably worse to come. and for this i say thank you to the Hypocrites of Govenments, Banks and Finance Companies throughout the world,
Fat Cats who will never want for nothing

I have looked at the AG Fish and Potato and have been tempted myself to try it, but I am worried about making Brady ill again, so for now I will stick with the Purina. The Internal Medicine Specialist we saw, did say that we might be able to change him to a non prescription diet, and maybe not. The only way to tell was to take the risk and try to change, but I am not ready to take that risk. I couldn't bear to go through all that again, and he is doing so well at the moment. We have tried giving him the odd bit of chicken etc now and then but it always softens his stool, so I think the signs are there that if we pushed it too far with a change of food completly he would become ill again.
You are so right about the FAT CATS etc MAKES ME SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear Steve,
I too feel robbed by R.C. (if you mean Royal Canine with it). My boy gets the potato/venison formula as he is supposingly allergic against other proteins. Even though he has improved with his constant scratching, skin issues and coat, the ever upgoing price leaves me scratching my head. Currently I pay arround 54 Dollars for a 16 lbs bag. Just recently they changed the kibble. Took canola and salmon oils out, and replaced it with coprah oil, anchovy oil and soya oil. The kibble has become larger and looks "air-filled". The bag went from 20 lbs down to 16 lbs.
Recommendation for his weight is almost 7 cups per day! I dont feed him more then 3 cups a day, as he has become a little bit chunky while on this food......go figure! I have tried other highly recommended limited ingredient kibbles, even with the same formulas, and the scratching returns. I also supplement him with Showstopper, everything in there aka cooked chicken, beef and egg. Thats why I have my doubt about the protein allergy. Or maybe, and I am very suspicious of this, RC puts something in the kibble that is not listed, the actual reason that you can only get it over the Vet.
I am comming down to just cooking for him at home, basical going on raw. I red alot from people with dogs who's allergies disappeared on it. Good luck to you!

Hi Steve
I use Skinners Duck & Rice cost just under £20, Duck and pig meat are the only meat proteins my dog can eat.
Not sure what your dog can eat but noticed you mention fish, Alfe cant eat fish but if you think yours can what about the Skinners Salmon & Rice you can purchase in Germany 55 euros for 15kg, maybe you can also buy in Begium?

You can also buy the duck & rice for 48 euros.

Steve wouldn't be cheaper to make the food for him from scratch? Just something to think about it. That price would have me thinking. I feel your pain Steve.

Steve, Can't you get "breeders rates"? I think RC require you to have 2-3 brood bitches befor they'll register you, but you could "tie up" with someone near you perhaps? My friend feed her Shepherds on RC and the breeders rates are very different!
My food has gone up too, they were blaming the oil prices... they've come down... but the food's going up again.

Fiona, did you not try Brady on Wafcol Salmon and Potatoe a while back? Missbeeb, these prescription diets are only available through vets, they are not available through the breeders clubs,or anywhere else. We looked into all this when Fiona's Brady first started on the diet, we even asked prices at my own vets, they were a few pennies cheaper but that was it. I think it is totally ridiculous the price they charge knowing these dogs NEED this food to be healthy. Exploitation at it's best, and you better believe the vets are making a big profit being the only sellers. liz

Ah... didn't know they were that strict... why are they, does anyone know?
It's unfair and apparently unreasonable! If pedigree can have an "open" thing re: it's unknown ingredients, why can't we buy what we need with known ingredients?
Who makes these mad decisions?
