I saw some drinks for dogs at WalMart last night...I had hoped I'd remember the name of them to ask about them here, but I forgot the name.  One was joint support, one was vitamin, one was dental care.  I'm kind of skeptical of anything involving my dogs and Walmart.  Does anyone know anything about this stuff?  I thought it might be a good choice for my boy who's doing Schutzhund to drink after training but I don't want to give any to my dogs until someone else has tried it and has experience.  Anyone tried it or know anything about it?  Would it be better than giving my dog a limited amount of water after training?  Any advantages?  Mainly, any DISadvantages of it?

Thanks,

Nichole

I would think regular water and perhaps some electrolyte powder found in pet catalogs would be a better choice.  Those types of water aren't all that great for people so I doubt they're that good for dogs.  Probably paying for the packaging and the idea rather than the substance of it.

Sounds like all those silly vitamin waters everyone is drinking these days, but for dogs! Save your money, honey. Or at least make sure it wasn't bottled in China.

Almost everything in Walmart come's from China, or it's factory second's and (B) grade good's.

They have cost us several local small business's that had better quality, I hope they go broke !!!

I would think clean clear water would be best if you can find it.  Our water has so much chlorine in it you can smell it.

8 ounce's of water with one table spoon of salt and two table spoons of sugar will do in a pinch for people, I don't know about using this for dog's.

Two Moons,

I used to have a fish and the lady at the fish store swore that if you let tap water set out 24 hours, all the chlorine in it is gone.  I don't know whether this is actually true but my dogs get water that's been stored in plastic jugs over 24 hours and ice through a filtered fridge.  I'm not crazy about my dogs drinking something that smells like a swimming pool.

I grew up on spring water from a 70 foot deep hand dug well, I have never gotten used to piped in water from the treatment plant.

I do believe your right about letting it sit.

I still don't like Walmart !!!  LOL

Two Moons,

Not a big Walmart fan either.  Unfotunately, where I live (Alabama), most of the good old Mom and Pop's places that I have found childhood memories of are now replaced by WalMart, Lowes, and other chains.

I'm still not sold on the doggie water stuff...at first I was like "wow!  awesome! special puppy water" then I was like "I don't know about this"  Just wanted others knowledge and experience before I actually brought a bottle in my house.  I may let my fiancee's dog sample some and see what happens....totally kidding...lol (she's not a GSD and I just can't get attached to her...I grew up with a GSD and just don't really care for other breeds).

Electrolyte powder is somethign I didn't know abotu and will looking into for my working male.

Same here with the stores, its not a good thing.

I never was big on gimmick's either, but I have no real knowledge about these product's.

I would just see what's it them, check ingredient's and where it is made.

LOL.... test it on the other breed...:)   also kidding.

I think I'd pass on the Walmart drinks for dogs too.  Just another gimmick for the people with too much money that have pets.  One of my neighbor's up the road bought a pup from me and these people had to be the best home I could have placed a dog with.  The dog has a stand in appointment at the groomers every week and they only give her chilled bottled water. lol  I think I draw the line on the bottled water. lol
