I have VPI pet Insurance and love it. Has come in real handy...........always nice to get the claim checks in the mail!

I have pet insurance too. XvKo is right, it does come in handy. And, with only one dog to cover, for me, it is cost effective. I also like the fact that if anything serious should happen to my boy, I don't have to let treatment and vet costs influence any decision I might have to make. Karen

never bothered, I just have a large contingency fund..and a good vet who lets me pay large fees in installments
If you work out what you pay into the policy over the years it is ridiculous.
I have third party on my working dogs just in case. never used it tho

I have found of the two major vendors in the US (VPI and whoever provides the AKC plan) BOTH are horrible about covering ANYTHING other than emergencies, such as bowl obstruction, hit by car etc. "Normal" GSD aliments, such as DM, EPI, HD and most others - even if diagnosed for first time during policy period are excluded - as are all diagnostics and treatments related to these issues prior to formal dignosis. You are better off saving the premiums into a savings account and considering "reverse insurance" you get to keep in the event nothing bad happens.
Hope this helps.

I think a good way to accumulate wealth is not willing to pay the wages of insurance company workers.
I buy insurance, with the biggest deductable, on the few things that I cannot afford to lose. If I always buy insurance on things I CAN afford to lose, I always pay.

thank you all for providing me info.
i did look up vpi and it never states what covers and how many percentage i've to pay from the pocket...
nothing in detail just the monthly for premium.....
i would really like to know if most of us will buy the insurance rather don't get it as long as keep gsd healthy.
also, interms of sports i was worried if anything might happen and will cover atleast few percentage from the insurance to have it would be worth while.
but i'd like to hear the real experience from these insurance paying out for the situations like it might happen to be in safe side would be glad to hear...
thanks
