I drive from the Poconos to Allentown to work every day, & there was a large German Shepherd Dog; beautiful, obviously well cared for (at some point) animal dead at the side of the road. There was nothing posted in the local papers lost & found. The dog was at the southern side (right side of the road going south)of the Treichlers bridge on route # 145. Today someone had covered him with a blanket. I will stop tonight & , if he is still there, check for tattoo or tags. So, if anyone is missing a GSD in the Laury's Station/ northern Lehigh county area.....I would check on the side of the road by the Treichlers bridge....if no one removes him I will see what I can do about having him picked up. No dog as handsome as that should be allowed to rot at the side of the road. jackie harris

How sad. That juction is technically Walnutport, Northampton County. Maybe the dog has tags on a collar. chances are in that area the dog was seen at Cherryville Animal Hospital, right up the road (Blue Mtn. Drive, to the left at the light, just before the bridge) towards Cherryville a half a mile or so, on the left hand side. They might know who the owner is. The shelter covering that area is Northampton County, but I'm betting they don't get that far from Easton often.
Poor dog.

Very sad for the poor dog and his owner. If no one picks his body up, try the local animal control or ask the county to pick up his remains. Most will do so.

Quick update, stopped briefly last night at 11:45pm to exam this poor dog's carcass. Beautiful animal, bicolor with a massive, almost Rottie head, made me wonder if he was a mix. Back half of the body was a little scarred up from his accident, & rigor mortis left the body perfectly rigid, so it was actually difficult in the dark to acertain the sex of the animal. From the structure, I would guess a male. He was a very big, well muscled animal, probably 80-90 pounds. Who ever had placed the blanket over him had weighted it down with rocks, to protect his body, God Bless them; someone besides me had paused to care about this dog. I returned the blanket & the rocks. It was the best I could do for the moment. I saw no tattoo, no evidence of collar or tags. He was lying with his head in a natural position, eyes open, face relaxed but alert looking, no grimace or expression of pain, in fact he looked quite peaceful. Perhaps he saw what he was looking for on the Bridge as he passed, and he was content with that. I hope so. jackie harris

I also hope he found the Bridge and freinds to greet him.
