Best to filter out any flouride in the water you give your GSD(s) if not from a well that has little or no flouride naturally in the water (occurs in Colorado and some other locations naturally).  You can use either a charcoal or reverse osmosis filter.

Here is a video clip about fluoride poison in horses. http://www.infowars.com/?p=5689

We have used a 6 stage reverse osmosis water filter with UV sterilizing light chamber and 13 gallon holding tank since we went off well water to a central city water system.  We give our GSDs water purified free of fluoride and other unhealthy chemicals in this manner.  I strongly suggest that folks only give their GSDs fluoride free water.  More and more facts are now coming forth.  The medical industry and the FDA will be the last to realize this.  Within the last year however there have been new medical research showing a connection between fluoride consumption in children via the water and bone cancer.  You can buy a very good reverse osmosis water purifier at costco and similar type stores for about $129-$159.  Do your self and your GSDs right, drink clean, healthy water.
