I recently got to GSD's. I want to build kennels for them but am unsure on the best way to do so. Does anyone have any ideas that would be of any help? Thank you in advance.

It depends a lot on where you are living. The kind of weather conditions in your area, The raw materials available there.
You will get confused by asking people from all over. check out some friends in the neighbourhood and your area. Ask around no harm but apply your own common sense

start with welded wire kennels...NO chainlink fencing! Priefert kennels are my favorite.
then solid flooring so they can't dig out.....
i like the Igloo Indigo dog houses

How much time will these (TWO ) be spending in these kennel's?
You really want to custom build them or would prefer to purchase kennel's ready made ?
Where you live and the weather condition's does make a difference.
Are these puppy's or grown dog's?
If you want advice on the BEST kennel, you need to explain a little more what you expect and how they would be used.

As I always say. anything related to dogs is an iterative process whether breeding, caring , rearing, training etc etc .
You rarely get it right the first time. Even the gurus keep making the blunders. So don't fret too much about the best part. Just try and make it as right as possible.

Why not chain link kennels? Are they dangerous for the dogs??? I have chain link kennels for my guys when they are outside.

Dog's grab and pull at chain link when they are board or are frustrated and then the teeth get scratched or chipped or pulled out with bloody gums. That is why Preifert or Rott Iron is the bettre choice.

Just a 12" wide concrete slab at the bottom near the fence will vastly reduce the chance of them digging out, provided that you inspect for evident of digging and stop it. You can pour more concrete at where they dig.
