A friend sent me this link. Before you watch it, how do you think a dog uses its tongue to lap up water? The answer might surprise you:

That's really interesting, I have never seen a dog drinking water in slow motion. Very Cool to watch.

really interesting video; i would never have caught the "reverse" tongue action either. the only reason we get water on the floor at our house is because angus puts at least one of his front feet into the water bowl as he drinks! at least our other dog is neat and tidy . and yes, she is a very pretty and well trained mali.

My dog desn't like to waste time lapping it up, he sticks his face in and takes a bite full of water at a time. Needless to say I don't have a water dish in the house.

I use stainless buckets at my house. I place the bucket inside a large ceramic planter so the girls can't tip it over. Does not help w/the slobbering though!
