I have a question about my bully, I posted in the bulldog message forum but it dosnt appear to be a real active message forum.
I happen to notice that my bully has one eye that has a greyish blue haze over it. Anyone have any knowlege of what would cause that?
The vet is closed today and would just like some input if anyone else has experienced this with any of their animals.
Thanks in advance

Possibly the onset of a cataract

Your dog may have a serious injury to his cornea. Take him to the vet ASAP.

Take your dog to your vet Monday and get the vet's opinion. It could be a cataract or an injury. It's hard for anyone who can't see it to say. Best thing to do is go to the vet.

How old is your Bulldog?

by Rugers Guru on 20 October 2008 - 05:10
Sounds like he has entropion, its the rolling of the eyelids, it can be acquired later in life, or as a pup. Entropion that is considered to be inherited usually develops within a few months of birth. I very rarely had this problem with the Shar Pei I bred, but I did get a few to rescue that needed the surgery. It is also VERY common in your breed as well, however if he is very young he may just need a stitch temporarily to hold his eye lashes off the eye..... your vet can determine that. Good luck and I hope it only temporary and nothing to worry about. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the imput everyone. I will be calling the vet on monday. I was thinking possibly cataract but then again he is only 3 1/2.
And I guess it could be an injury. He was the only dog up until a few months ago when we got sarge, and they can get a little rough when it comes to playing with each other.
Thanks again

Could be Corneal Dystrophy, do Bully's get that?
by Blitzen on 21 October 2008 - 01:10
My GSD had corneal dystrophy; it subsided on it's own. The entire cornea was not effected, there were only a few oval shaped spots in each eye. When the entire cornea becomes clouded it is generally a sign that there has been an injury to the eye. I think the cloudiness is the result of white blood cells that collect as a response to the injury.

Agree... have a vet look at it and check for any injury to the surface of the eye. If you have meds @ home you've used on other dogs... BE VERY CAREFUL... you do not want to use a medication which contains a steroid if there's an abrasion to the eye surface. If it's not bothering him don't do anything til the Vet's seen it.
