Bob-O

by Bob-O on 20 October 2008 - 00:10

I was able to attend the NASS for most of Saturday and Sunday and I am pleased to say that this event was the most enjoyable one of its type I have attended. The venue and weather were perfect, and everyone present displayed excellent sportsmanship. I had a very cold motorbike ride in and arrived in the area at 1:00am Saturday morning; slept too late and did not make it to the show until 10:00am or so. But I had an entire day to enjoy an excellent event, followed by most of the day on today, Sunday. I left just after the judging of the working class males as I wanted to get home before true sunset.

What I saw this weekend-(a) excellent and consistent judging by both judge Brauch and judge Schweikert (b) many very impressive bitches, and (c) a few really good males, and a few rather large males. I must say the bitches presented at the show impressed me most with their consistency in regards to pigment, type, conformation, and drive. One (1) of the two (2) helpers was a bit tough on all of them, and a couple of bitches really showed that their mettle was impossible to sway. Very nice girls!

The only negative (if one could call it that) issue was that the supply of show catalogues was exhausted before I arrived Saturday morning. While it would have been nice of obtain a catalogue, I think I should place this in a positive light from the standpoint that show attendance exceeded expectations. And, that is NEVER a bad thing! So in closing, I say "Bravo!" and give a serious round of applause to the G.S.D.C.A. for a job well done.

Best Regards,

Bob-O

Anyone planning on posting bitework video?

by Lenny on 20 October 2008 - 01:10

Liedo got robbed. He was twice the male that Tee Jay is. Just about everyone at ringside agreed. Better shoulder, better rear action, better overline, better type, better color. The bite work was comparable. What's left, the tail? Total robbery.

Did they do anything to recognize the dogs that did the best bitework?

Thanks for the update, Bob-O. Based on the website with results and photo shows, it looked like a well organized event. The dogs I was cheering for didn't do as well as I'd hoped, but that's how it goes sometimes.  I'm glad the GSDCA put on a good show (I'm a member.)

I got home a couple of hours ago. Nice event. BEAUTIFUL venue, super hospitality from the organization for newcomers and old-timers alike, mostly nice weather, decent host hotel... more... but I'm too pooped to post specifics till at least tomorrow.

Isn't it nice to see so many US bred dogs do well at NASS?

Liedo did get robbed, Lenny!!!!!!!!!!!  He was the best dog out there yesterday.  It was a shame the judge didn't switch Liedo and Teejay up at least one time, because Liedo would've outshown him and the crowd would've gone crazy!!
