ANY OPINIONS I HAVE A FRIEND WHO WANTS TO BUY A PUP OUT OF A LITTER FROM THIS KENNEL. SHE EMAILED HER ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO TELLING HER WHAT SHE WAS LOOKING FOR. THE OWNER GOT BACK TO HER WITH THE COLORS AND SEXES THAT WERE AVAILABLE. MY FRIEND ASKED TO SEE A FEW PHOTO'S OF THESE PUPS WHICH ARE NOW 2 MONTHS AND THEY TOLD HER THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TIME TO TAKE PHOTO'S INSTEAD TO CALL THEM. WHY SHOULD SHE WASTE HER TIME TALKING ABOUT A PUP (WHEN SHE EXPLAINED ALL ABOUT OWNING DOGS FOR 20 YEARS,WORKING LINES, ALL WORKED IN PROTECTION) WHEN IF SHE SAW THE PHOTO'S OF WHAT IS AVAILABLE SHE MIGHT NOT EVEN LIKE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE I.E.-COLORING STRUCTURE. I DON'T HAVE THE ANSWER. ANYTIME I ASKED ABOUT BUYING A PUP THEY WOULD TELL ME THE PRICE AND THEN SEND PHOTO'S.(AFTER ASKING WHAT MY INTENTIONS WERE) BUT TYSON/WITMER WERE TOLD WHAT HER INTENTIONS WERE.

Who buys a pup based on a photo? Particularly a workinh line puppy? :-) Witmer Tyson has enjoyed a very good reputation for many years. They also breed and supply dogs for law enforecment. Did you or your friend do any research on the litters, or the Witmers themselves? For example, do you know that Randi Tyson was the original owner and trainer of Mink? Perhaps your friend would be more comfortable dealing with a breeder in his/her own area, where he/she can go see the puppies? What area does your friend live in?

she wants a bl/tan puppy.

that's so unusual to have a preference on the color you like??

EVERY breeder "I" have ever inquired about buying a pup sent me photo's to see which one i like.

 she likes black and tans

quite a few people buy puppies on just photo's or seeing them in person.

how do these puppy mills do it??

they got you because you get to see how adorable the pup is!

 she is in P.A.

she knows all about the tysons reputation that is why she wanted a pup from them.

Randy and David were over in Europe in September, just got back and then were at the WUSV.   They just got back last week.

Harley

I do not think you understand an old school breeder like Randy... She does not care to advertise except whatever she puts up on her website.... Most of her litters are pre-sold before they are born... If she is inviting you to come and see then do yourself the favor of taking her up on that offer... you are unlikely to regret it.

Or, deal with reputable breeders in the Ohio/Pennsylvania area. Regarding color- everyone has their personal preferences. Simply stating such is usually enough. Photos are not needed to "prove" it. Most reputable working line breeders are not going to be that anxious to deal with anyone totally hung up on cocmetics like color. Besides, these working line pups are tricky- they like to change on you! :-) the black and tan puppy I have is threatening to tuirn into a saddle-mark, the same as the last black and tan bi-color bitch I had. That one turned into a saddle-marked showline wannabe by the time she was 14 months old. :-)

dear mystere, who has dogs in penn or surrounding area that are the quality of the witmer tysons?

none that i know of with working lines that are CORRECT in structure and temperment.

and no color is NOT such a big thing

but if you are paying big bucks why shouldn't you be able to get the color you want?

i don't understand why people should just settle when there are SOOOO many litters being bred that are the color you want.

it's just a matter of waiting.

and to my friend this litter had it all!!!  But to be told here is a black and tan pup and this is the one i will sell you. you should have a choice.

JMO

that is why i am going back to a breeder who will give me the puppy i pick.

like he did with the last one i bought from him
