stumbled upon a breeder who claims they are the only breeder in the U.S. who own two OFA excellent studs, yet they only own one. they also list there pups for sale for $1500-$2000 off "titled" stock, titled being a dinky CGC. dogs ears are floppy, there reason for breeding is to produce, and i quote, "the oversized german shepherd that we have not seen in 25 years." i wonder why we have not seen it? maybe because it is not the best thing. claiming their females weigh 105-115 pounds lean, 28 inches at the shoulder, and their males 110-145 pounds, 28-32 inches at the shoulder.

personally, about the tallest shepherd i have seen was about 29 inches, and he was faulted for oversize. yet i had to laugh because the one they claim is 32 inches tall comes right above the knee cap! that must be one tall lady, because i am 5 foot 10 inches, and 32 inches falls a bit higher on me than that!

It's not what the breed is coming to, rather the people who are out there..selling crap.

Not limited to dog's.

Moose I live in central Fl. There is a breeder like that here in the brooksville area. says his dogs are over 30 inches all over 100 lbs. says he takes them to Germany and competes sch . His dogs blow away the competition, in sch and show ring.

He sells his dogs for 2000 and up. People believe his Bull shit. Bull shit sells. I doubt he is selling anything now, with the economy the way it is. I think breeders like that have always existed.

i am guilty of having oversized dogs i will admit i love them big and lean and mean all there ears stand straight up .they all come from some of the best old lines i see every day right here on this data base . ive had my dogs all german sheperds for over 20 years ,well ther bloodlines of corse as no dog lives to be over 20, anyways my point is they come from the same lines as most of you all have only further back in the lines .i do get smaller ones also and alot of them get real tall and big they are great dogsall healthy happy and live good long lifes.all off them would be titled if i were not a single mom and had no time or finances for titleing .now the kids are grown i have more time and money ,the dogs are up to it,its my stamina i question.all my pups over the years have gone to good pet and protection homes with familys and kids .believe it or not alot of people are not interested in showing, extreeme training or titleing .most can not afford the money or time for that as they have families and just want a gooddog to watch there kids and homes and love.on the down side as i get older the dogs seem bigger and stronger then when i was younger ,it is much easyer for me to control the 75-85lb dogs then the 100 plusdogs .i guess my point is to each his own as long as health brains looks and temperments are all there,as far as i can figure the germans put those genes together at one point its in them and they should not be faulted for just being over sized. as long as the buyer is aware the dog may get huge i see no harm no foul .just my thoughts and last 20 plus years with my beloved dogs past and present. and no i do not live in florida nor know the florida breeder mentioned on this post

sounds to me like you are talking about either Royalair gsd, or a mother/daughter kennel in Virginia.  they do breed for over sized dogs. yes.  but if you have a problem with the size, why even look at their websites or the dogs?

I personally had a german boy who was 18 months and 31 inches at the wither.  125 lean lbs.  sold him to a pet home.  his dad was a Triumph's gucci grson, out of a titled male Fleischerheim used to own named Baron.grandma was a VA Ajax daughter.
