Training for k-9 work - Page 1

I have a almost 7 month old female. I am going to train her in protection and tracking and detection. what age would you start and how would you sart training her to respond to strangers.I have done the schutzhund sport with previous dogs , but I want to do something different with this one. I would like different opinions on this matter.

She is quite good looking dog, first of all not all dogs can handle that kind of training so it is a good idea to have her evaluated by professional, he would be as well able to put you in touch with the right people that might quide you. Good luck she is quite good looking dog.

Regardless of what type of training you do with a dog it starts from the time they are very young.  The imprinting stage is very essential in how the dog will interact with people and situations it's placed in.  Have the dog evaluated by an experienced trustworthy trainer before you put in too much time into a dog that may not be suitable for what you're looking to do.  Make sure whoever you train with has A LOT of experience in training police k9's.  There is a difference in how they train and not all dogs are capeable of handling the pressure and intensitiy.  A bad trainer can ruin a perfectly good dog.
